Writing and me: A journey of 18 years

Ever since I was a child, I used to write poetry and stories. Things got a bit slow for the past 4 years, but I feel it's time to change that.

I remember I wrote a full diary about my friends in 4th grade. I loved everyone and I thought they were my best friends ever. So, I wrote a full description of every student in the class and my most memorable moments with each of them. My mom was so proud of that diary that she complemented me so much. I recall that she even showed it to our neighbours when they visited one time. That made me fly to the moon.

As for poetry, I wrote a poem once about Palestine. My dad wanted to encourage me, so when we were visiting some relatives one time, he asked me to read it to them. That was embarrassing but it felt good too.

Years later, fast forward, when I was 18, first year at university, I started writing a book. I was so inspired about an idea that I made a series of 30 short stories based on it. It took me around 2 years of writing, editing and re-editing to finish it. I was happy and proud. Some influential people loved it too and complemented me. That made me more optimistic about publishing it. However, things weren't that easy.

For almost a year or so, I tried to publish my book. I went to all publishers that I could reach. They'd either refuse to publish it or ask me to pay for the printing and they would distribute it for me. I did not have the money. So, I put the book in the drawer and left it there.

A year or so later, I learned about a website that publishes quality and free Arabic content online. So, I wrote to them and enrolled in their screening process. Later, i was accepted and the book was published. I was so happy. I was so proud of the downloads rate as the book went popular quite quickly. Also some people wrote to me asking for permission to produce it as an audio-book and translate it to other languages. I gave them permission, and the downloads increased even more.

Now, almost 6 years later, when I look back I thank God for what happened. The print publishers offered me a 1,000 copy print, but what the online book has achieved was almost 80,000 downloads. It is 80 times more. Can you imagine? #lifeworksforyou #always

In the following years, I kept writing articles here and there, mainly on my blog (this one). However, that was not regular. Writing has always been dear to me and I feel like writing again. I feel there is something to share and a book to write.

I am still unsure about how it will be, but I am crystal clear about the mission. It is to share experiences and inspire people to open their hearts up for the Light within. I will be sharing my stories of interacting with nature, in my numerous travels, and how that helped me become a happy thankful being that I am.

For the Light that is deep within me and you, my reader, I write.

Namaste
